Capital Improvements to Rohnerville Airport:

  1. Power to red hanger- placed underground
  2. Water to Red Hanger area
  3. Security gate with digital keyboard to open gate (powered) -- Is it possible to do the same with the CDF area?
  4. Renew airport lights-- ? Fiber optics-- or conduit for transmission lines
  5. Lower approach angle by purchase of the west end property and removal of the trees.
  6. Class 3 ASOS- If Arcata-Eureka removes their ASOS. Can it be placed on Rohnerville Airport?
  7. Placement of video cameras to give actual weather view to in-coming pilots via satelite?
  8. Runway distance markers ?
  9. Educational facilities at each airport for satellite communications, security, weather observations, etc.
  10. Paving near the current FBO office- to prevent rocks on the taxiways
  11. Use of Polysteel Form construction for all planned airport facilities and off airport facilities to avoid the noise encroachment problem of housing.
  12. Rental Cars- for pilots inbound to all our airports- can use Avi8cando mechanisms.
  13. Begin planning for more hangers, and replacement of current hangers.
  14. Possibility to use airport property to safely store and biologically degrade some contaminated soils.
  15. Lights for parking ramps- for night time use.
  16. Electrical outlets / cables for transient plane battery charges, grounding cables at tie-downs???
  17. Compass Rose, paint?
  18. Work training programs for kids to earn money for flight training. Mentors etc.?
  19. Begin economic development.
  20. One of the King Air groups asked for a Restaurant, lounge, etc.
  21. Options for Hangers, for more than 20 years?
  22. Control of birds around airport, and other wildlife as airport hazards.

These are some of the problems discussed and thought about after the 1800 hrs meeting. You can apply them as you desire. I've asked Fred Baron to organize the Garberville Airport Groups and get back to you ASAP-- Hope this is of help. George Jutila.
