A.                  CLOSED SESSION

1.                   Conference with Legal Counsel--Existing Litigation (Government Code Section 54956.9(a); Save the Redwoods League v. Co. of Humboldt, No. A083104, Humboldt County Case No. 9700778

RECOMMENDATION: The Board voted 4/0 with Supervisors Dixon and Kirk appearing telephonically and Supervisor Rodoni absent, to accept the Save the Redwoods League's offer to settle the attorney's fee issue.The County is to pay all costs ($2,940) plus $99,500 in attorney's fees, together with a payment of $40,000 into a fund to be controlled jointly by a representative of the Save the Redwoods League.The fund would be used for the analysis and development of high quality job and economic opportunities associated with the presence of parks in Humboldt County.The funds must be transferred to an independent financial institution.Disbursements would require authorization by all representatives of the League and a member of the Board of Supervisors.

B.                  ADJOURNMENT
