Board of Supervisors

1.                   Request for Ratification of Certificate of Recognition for Dan Johnson, Arcata Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year (Supervisor Woolley)

RECOMMENDATION: Approve request.

2.                   Request to Rescind the Acceptance of Kathy Stone's Resignation from the Children Families Commission (Supervisor Neely)

RECOMMENDATION: Approve request.

3.                   Request to Appoint Jose Quezada to the Children and Families Commission (Supervisor Neely)

RECOMMENDATION: Reschedule for the meeting of February 11, 2003.

4.                   Request to Appoint Timothy Scott Kelly to the County Planning Commission (Supervisor Geist)

RECOMMENDATION: Approve request.

5.                   Request to Send Letter of Appreciation to Mr. Rick Hanger for His Service on the County Planning Commission (Supervisor Geist)

RECOMMENDATION: Approve request.

Cooperative Extension

6.                   Travel Reimbursement from the University of California, Davis

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt supplemental budget of $824.

County Counsel

7.                   Amending Sections 228-3, 228-6 and 228-7 of Chapter 8, Division 2, Title II of the County Code Changing the Purpose, Responsibility and Obligations of the Human Rights Commission

RECOMMENDATION: Introduce ordinance by title, waive first reading and set for adoption on February 25, 2003.

Public Defender

RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file report.

Sheriff

9.                   Request to Pay David Lundie as a Correctional Officer While Attending the Police Academy at College of the Redwoods

RECOMMENDATION: Approve request.

1.                   Resolution of Commendation to John Campbell for His Years of Service to the Timber Industry (Supervisors Rodoni and Neely)

RECOMMENDATION: Ratify the resolution.

2.                   Proclamation Declaring February 2003 as V-Day Month Urging Citizens to Actively Participate in Working Toward Creating a Rape-Free Community (Supervisor Neely)

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt proclamation.

This 15-minute portion of the meeting is reserved for persons desiring to address the Board on any matter not on this agenda that is under the jurisdiction of the Board. It is requested that speakers sign the sheet at the front doors of the Chamber.

 

1.                   Several individuals requested that the Board settle the pepper spray lawsuit.

I.                     ADJOURNMENT
