Agricultural Commissioner

1.                   Contract for Egg Quality Control Activities Through June 30, 1998

RECOMMENDATION: Approve contract with the State Department of Food and Agriculture.

Board of Supervisors

2.                   Appointment to the Human Rights Commission (Supervisor Woolley)

RECOMMENDATION: Appoint John Lyons as Third District representative.

Coroner-Public Administrator

3.                   Contract with Dr. Everett Davis for Pathological Services

RECOMMENDATION: Withdraw from the agenda.

Court Executive Officer

4.                   Senior Court Clerk Position No. 2 and Courtroom Clerk, Position No. 3

RECOMMENDATION: Increase both positions to 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE).

District Attorney

5.                   Allocation of Legal Office Assistant Position for Family Support Division

RECOMMENDATION: Approve allocation.

6.                   Rescind Requirement for Approval to Fill Positions

RECOMMENDATION: Rescind requirement that the Board must approve the filling of currently vacant Investigator, Legal Secretary I/II, Legal Office Assistant I/II and Deputy D. A. I-IV.

7.                   Early Retirement for Gary Bates, Senior Investigator

RECOMMENDATION: Authorize Mr. Bates contingent on his retiring on 01/02/98 to be paid for 100% of sick leave he has accumulated as of that date and be eligible for the 25% reduction in his health insurance premiums just as if he had accrued 25 years of continuous service.

Health

8.                   Computer for Humboldt Health Families Home Visiting Collaborative Project

RECOMMENDATION: Approve purchase of computer with grant the Irvine Foundation.

9.                   Purchase of Desk and Computer System for Medi-Cal Administration

RECOMMENDATION: Approve purchase in the amount of $2,715.

10.               Transfer of $205 to Allow NorCAP to Sponsor an AIDS Awareness Poster Contest

RECOMMENDATION: Approve transfer.

Mental Health

11.               Compensation for Medical Office Assistant II at Administrative Secretary Rate

RECOMMENDATION: Approve compensation until incumbent returns from leave.

12.               Extra-Help Extensions for Vina Davis and Werner Hoberia, Mental Health Workers

RECOMMENDATION: Approve extensions to 960 hours.

Probation

13.               Increased Grant Funds for Anti-Drug Abuse Enforcement Program

RECOMMENDATION: Approve supplemental budget of $23,100.

Social Services

14.               Compensation for Eligibility Worker III at Eligibility Supervisor Rate

RECOMMENDATION: Approve compensation until incumbent returns from leave.

RECOMMENDATION: Support Assembly Bill 1362 (Gardino--Transient Occupancy Tax) oppose Senate Bill 1173 (Modification to Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act [ISTEA]; and support House Resolution 2107 (Payment in Lieu of Taxes).

1.                   Tracy Katelman presented the Board members with a copy of the draft of The Headwaters Forest Stewardship Plan prepared by the Trees Foundation of Redway.Robert Parker, GIS Coordinator for the Trees Foundation went over some of the main points of the above-mentioned plan.By Order of the Chair consideration of the Board's comments on the above-mentioned draft would be scheduled for the Board's meeting of Tuesday, October 21, 1997.
