FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996-97

RECOMMENDATION: Approve concept the
departments' line item budgets; determine method to balance budget; direct CAO
and Auditor-Controller to prepare final budget and to use Accounts Receivable
and Expenditure Encumbrance recommended by Auditor; freeze filling of all

RECOMMENDATION: Tamara C. Falor, County Counsel,
announced the Board unanimously directed the County Negotiator
to contact State Mediation Services to request a mediator be assigned to help
resolve the differences between the County and AFSCME.

less than 72 hours prior to the Board meeting, and that are public records
