Who is the Ombudsperson and what do they do?
The Ombudsperson helps you resolve issues with your child support case, explains your rights and responsibilities, and tells you the ways you can get child support services.
What are the Ombudsperson’s Responsibilities?
- To help you with child support issues.
- To assist you in understanding the complaint process before, during, and
after the complaint is filed.- To assist you in preparing for a State Hearing.

Complaint Resolution and State Hearing Process
Either a custodial party or a noncustodial parent may file a complaint over the handling of a
child support case. Complaint forms are available Online, at the HCDCSS Office and at
the California Department of Child Support Services website.
Child Support Handbook
The Child Support Handbook provides general information about California's child support enforcement process. However, due to regulatory, policy or legislative changes, some information in this handbook may be out of date or incorrect.
