Any registered voter may vote by vote-by-mail ballot.
Voters may cast vote-by-mail ballots in person in the
Elections office (address below) during the vote-by-mail voting period which begins twenty-nine days before an election and extends
until the close of polls on election day. Regular office hours are Monday
through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office
is open until 8:00 p.m. on election days.
Most vote-by-mail voters
request and cast their ballots by mail.
Vote-By-Mail Ballot requests must be received seven days before election day by
5:00 p.m. to receive a ballot by mail. Voters may request a vote-by-mail ballot by any of the following three
request form from the back of your sample ballot and mailing it back to us.

law prevents us from issuing vote-by-mail ballots based on a request over the
phone. This prevents anyone requesting a vote-by-mail ballot in someone
else's name. Therefore, you must request a vote-by-mail ballot in
must receive your written request at least seven days before an election.
Permanent Vote-By-Mail Voting
Any California voter may request to become a permanent
vote-by-mail voter. Permanent vote-by-mail voters are mailed a vote-by-mail ballot for
each election in which he or she is eligible to vote. Permanent vote-by-mail
voters remain on the permanent vote-by-mail list unless they fail to return a
voted ballot in a Primary or General Election.
To become a permanent vote-by-mail voter, complete the
vote-by-mail application on the back of your sample ballot. Be sure to check the
box on the application indicating you wish to become a permanent vote-by-mail
voter. You can also download the Permanent Vote-By-Mail
Voter Application** . Mail or
fax the completed application to the Registrar of Voters.
