CalWORKs: Welfare-to-Work

The CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work program contains a full range of employment related activities and services that are designed to provide Temporary Assistance to Needy Families Program (TANF) applicants and recipients with the types of skills that will enable them to become self-sufficient through employment. Typical services include appraisal, barrier removal (such as Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence), job preparation, job search, job club, work experience, on-the-job training, and vocational training. Assistance with child care, transportation, and work-related expenses is available to participants in Welfare-to-Work activities.
