All proceeds will be used by the Friends to benefit the library.  10% discount to members of the Friends of Fortuna Library

FREE TAX PREPARATION WITH VITA
Image: a small green piggybank with a speech bubble that says "free!"VITA Volunteers are trained, IRS-Certified Tax Specialists who help low and moderate income households making under $52,000 a year prepare and file their taxes electronically, free of charge.  Direct deposit is a free option and it can take as little as two weeks in most cases to receive a refund.  They'll be here at the Fortuna Branch Library on this date to help people with their taxes.
Call 211 for information or to make an appointment to get your taxes prepared for free.

Photo: CD Collins leans against weathered boards, her yellow hair lifting in a light breeze.Meet Kentucky native and author of Blue Land, CD Collins.  Her controversial new album, Clean Coal / Big Lie  and her live performance feature songs and spoken-word pieces that will transport you to the deepest heart of Appalachia -- its troubles, unforgettable characters, and ineffable, endangered beauty.  CD Collins has performed at the Berklee College of Music Performance Hall, Boston Public Library, Club Passim, and Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art.  She was a guest of the New York Public Library and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

Photo: Susan Wooldridge stands in a stream, the hem of  her long skirt in the current.Susan Wooldridge's approach to poetry is loved by creative people of all sorts, and her book poemcrazy: free your life with words  is used in places ranging from the Rhode Island Public Schools to Brown University, the Virginia Writing Project and the Guggenheim Museum Curriculum online.  Here is your chance to attend a workshop with this gifted poet, teacher, and author. All ages are welcome from children 6 and up, to any age of grownup. This event is supported by Poets & Writers, Inc. through a grant it has received from The James Irvine Foundation; by the California Center for the Book; and by the Humboldt County Library.
