Summer reading club
Any child can join this free summer activity
When school lets out for the summer, the Humboldt County Library begins its summer reading club. All children are welcome to join this free program. Children in the club stretch their minds and keep up their reading skills over the summer while having lots of free, genuine fun: reading, doing crafts, hearing stories and songs, enjoying visiting performers, and learning all the time.

Young artists wanted (ages 5-12)
Friday August 13 (deadline)
The Friends of the Redwood Libraries are creating a 2011 calendar featuring the artwork of children between the ages of 5 and 12. The theme for the art is My Favorite Book. We hope you will encourage your child/children to participate in support of our local libraries. Sales of the calendar will help raise funds for the libraries.
Fill out the application form and bring or mail it to the Friends of the Redwood Libraries.
eBook of the month
This month's free eBook is The End of Time: The Maya Mystery of 2010 by Anthony Aveni. This book explores the theories, prophecies, and predictions surrounding December 21, 2012. It explains their origins and measures them against evidence unearthed by Maya researchers.
