ABOUT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Humboldt County's Office of Economic Development is part of the Community Development Services Department.  We align 3 areas of focus to bring about comprehensive, community-centered economic development that improves the lives of low-income people and increases their opportunities to achieve economic self-sufficiency:

1. Business Retention and Expansion

3. Workforce Development

STRATEGIC GOALS

1. Provide leadership and planning direction for economic, workforce, housing and infrastructure development.

2. Promote the growth of the County's industry clusters.

3. Build local capacity for coordinated economic, workforce and community development initiatives.

4. Obtain grants to fuel strategic projects and leverage funds.

5. Assist in the development of rural communities.

6. Relieve constraints and provide opportunities to distressed populations.

7. Assist in the implementation of local Workforce Investment Board efforts to build a comprehensive, coordinated and effective workforce development system.
