PURPOSE:
The purpose of the
Fire Safe Council is to oversee the preparation and
implementation of the
Master Fire Protection Plan (MFPP), of concern to Humboldt
County and, when appropriate, to inform and make
recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.
FUNCTIONS:
The Humboldt
County Fire Safe Council (FSC) shall serve in an advisory
capacity to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) of the County of
Humboldt in accordance with the following guidelines:
- The committee
shall oversee the preparation and implementation of the MFPP and
consider related FSC matters within the authority of
the BOS.
- Any expression
of new policy by the committee shall first be
approved by the BOS before being made public. Upon
such approval, public release may be made either
by the BOS or said committee, or jointly by both.
- The committee
shall serve as a forum to share fire-safety
related information, assess fire risk, and set
fire protection priorities.
- The committee
shall encourage development of local volunteer
FSCs and broad voluntary participation on the part
of the local FSCs, private landowners and public
agency partnerships.
