The National Weather Service issued a Marine Weather Statement this afternoon regarding a Pacific storm expected to arrive Thursday night.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is advising people to use extreme caution in beach areas and in harbor entrances this weekend. As indicated in the NWS statement, swell waves are expected to build to over 20 feet by Friday. Watching waves of that size might be exciting to some, but the Sheriff’s Office is reminding people to use good judgment. Underestimating the power of the waves can lead to tragic consequences. Please be safety-minded when enjoying the beauty of the North Coast.
