Yesterday afternoon Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Drug Enforcement Unit served a search warrant in the Island Mountain area of Southern Humboldt. At about 4:00 PM deputies searched a building on A Road, about 30 minutes east of Garberville. They found the following:
429 growing marijuana plants
ranging in size from 1-4 feet.
27 pounds of processed marijuana buds.
42 pounds of processed marijuana leaves
(commonly called “shake”).
Deputies have identified three suspects in the case and arrest warrants will be sought.
In addition to serving the search warrant, deputies also conducted a probation search at a nearby residence. The occupant, 62 year-old William Finley Sr., is on felony probation for Cultivation of Marijuana. At the residence, deputies found a shotgun, 500 rounds of ammunition, and $15,000. Mr. Finley was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, and a probation violation. Mr. Finley posted $50,000 bail and was released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 11, 2004.
