The victim reported a home invasion robbery that occurred at his residence in the 4000 block of Union Street, Eureka at approximately 2:00 a.m. the same day. The victim told the investigating deputy he was in his residence alone, when he heard a loud bang at his front door. When he looked towards his locked front door, he saw it was forced open and three men entered his residence. The victim saw all three men were armed, one with an AR-15 assault style rifle, one with a semi- auto handgun and another with a crow bar. All three men had their faces covered up with either masks or shirts. The men ordered the victim to the floor and then wrapped his legs, ankles and hands with duct tape. The suspects ransacked his home and stole cash, 99 marijuana plants, computers and other electronic items. Then when the suspects left they stole the victims 1998 Black Toyota 4 Runner.

The victim debated reporting the crime to law enforcement fearing cultivating marijuana could get him into trouble. The victim was not injured, however was still shaken up when the deputy interviewed him.

Deputies responded to the victim’s residence and processed the crime scene. They located evidence consistent with the victims account as to what occurred.

Through their investigation efforts, deputies developed information that the stolen property may be located at a residence in the 1200 block of I street, Eureka. Deputies searched the residence on I street and located most of the victim’s stolen property, including the marijuana.

On 11-24-2013, approximately 12:15 a.m. Eureka Police located the stolen 4 Runner at Allard Avenue and Glenn Street, Eureka.

The case is still being actively investigated by Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives.
