On 1-12-2014, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy spotted a dark green Toyota Landcruiser driving out of the Humboldt House Inn parking lot in Garberville. The deputy had received briefing information from the United States Marshalls Office and Riverside County Sheriff’s Office that the driver of the vehicle, William Oliver Sumpter Jr., 28 years old from Myers Flat, was wanted for attempted murder. The deputy stopped the Landcruiser on Locust Street, near Maple Lane, Garberville. The California Highway Patrol responded and assisted with the traffic stop.
