Case No#: 200401604
Released By: Brenda Gainey

Location: Blocksburg

While searching for a suspected child molester, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies found an indoor marijuana grow this morning. At about 7:00 AM Sheriff’s Deputies were assisting US Marshals in their search for 50 year-old Jose Nunez of Blocksburg. Nunez has a felony warrant for his arrest for charges that include aggravated sexual assault on a child and lewd/lascivious acts with a child by use of force or fear. Sheriff’s Deputies and US Marshals were in an area known as the Larrabee subdivision, about 3 miles north of Blocksburg. Deputies stopped at a residence to ask if Nunez had been seen in the area. While at the residence, deputies smelled the strong odor of marijuana and heard the sound of a running generator. Deputies obtained consent to search the structure and found 1,070 growing marijuana plants. They ranged in size from 18 inches to two feet. Deputies also found thirty grow lights that were powered by a 25-kilowatt diesel generator. Arrested at the scene were Jesse Albert Clapham, 28 of Honeydew and Vincent Rolf Debord, 30 of Redway. They were charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession for sale.

While Sheriff’s Deputies secured and processed the marijuana grow, US Marshals continued the search for Nunez but were unable to find him. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jose Nunez should call the US Marshal’s Office of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707)445-7251.
