Yesterday morning, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI in serving a federal search warrant off of Dyerville Loop Road near Alderpoint. At about 9:00 AM officials served the warrant and found a structure that measured approximately 20x80 feet. Inside the two-story structure they found 1,853 growing marijuana plants under 71 grow lights. The lights were powered by two generators that were concealed in a separate underground structure. There was evidence that oil and diesel had contaminated the soil and officials from Humboldt County Environmental Health responded to the property and initiated a separate investigation.
Arrested at the scene were the owners of the property, Collin G. Gotcher, 25, and his wife Tami L. Gotcher, 21. They were taken into custody and will be arraigned on federal charges of cultivation of marijuana and possession for sale. Officials also confiscated four firearms from their residence, which was a separate structure on the same property as the marijuana grow. The couple also had two children at the residence, ages 1 and 3, who were released to the custody of relatives.
