On the above date at about 1540 hours, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing adult male who was last seen swimming in the Trinity River near the Mill Creek area of Hoopa.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department were dispatched to the area to search for the male, who was identified as 29-year-old Jerod Day of Arcata. Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel, Hoopa Valley Volunteer Fire Department personnel and a US Coast Guard helicopter also assisted with the search.

At about 1830 hours, searchers located Jerod Day on the west bank of the Trinity River near the Hoopa Rodeo Grounds. Jerod Day was evaluated by medical personnel and later released at the scene with no major injuries.
