On 10-28-2004 at approximately 1200 hours the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at a residence located on Gibson Creeks Road, Whitethorn. Officers located three commercial indoor marijuana gardens inside of two structures on the property. Officers seized 482 marijuana plants that ranged in size from 1 inches to 4 feet. Officers seized $ 3,000 dollars in cash that was located inside of the residence. No one was located on the property when the search warrant was served.
During the investigation of the search warrant, Officers checked with other residences on Gibson Creek Road for any possible information on who lived at the search warrant location. When Officers were at one of the neighbor’s property they discovered another commercial marijuana growing operation unrelated to the search warrant location.
Officers obtained a consent to search from the subject located on the property. Officers then seized 724 growing marijuana plants that ranged in size from 1 foot to 3 foot in height from three indoor marijuana growing structures. The three indoor structures were hidden and camouflaged underneath thick tree canopy. Officers arrested Michael Adrian Harmon Elder age 50 at the scene for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana.
Both cases are still under investigation by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
