A Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a man last night after finding him to be in possession of 7.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. At about 10:40 pm, Larry Jens Andersen, 41 of Lakeport, was riding a bicycle on South Broadway near Purdue Drive in the Humboldt Hill area. A deputy noticed that Andersen’s bicycle did not have the required headlight and the deputy contacted Anderson. Upon conducting a routine warrants check, the deputy discovered that Andersen had a felony bench warrant for Petty Theft with a Prior Conviction.
The deputy place Andersen under arrest and, subsequent to the arrest, the deputy searched Andersen’s belongings. The deputy found 7.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Andersen was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale (due to the manner in which the substance was packaged). Both charges are felonies. Additionally, Andersen was booked for the outstanding bench warrant. His bail has been set at $30,000 ($20,000 for the drug case and $10,000 for the warrant). He is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
