Subject: Accidental Electrocution
Contact: Brenda Gainey, PIO
Case No#: 200500020
Released By: Brenda Gainey

Location: Harris

A Whitethorn man was killed yesterday morning when he tried to pick up a downed power line. At about 11:00 a.m. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of a “man down” and responded to the 6600 block of Bell Springs Road (in the Harris area of Southern Humboldt). Officials from the California Department of Forestry also responded to the call. They found Neil Steven Gambrall, 22, lying on a live power line that had fallen. He was deceased at the scene. It appears that Mr. Gambrall had been attempting to pick up the power line when he was electrocuted. The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office’s preliminary finding is that the cause of death was accidental electrocution.
