The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Deputy Troy Garey to the position of Eel River Valley Resident Deputy. In his new assignment, Deputy Garey will patrol from the Thomkins Hill overpass, south to Redcrest, and east to Carlotta. He will provide additional coverage in the Petrolia area as well.
Sheriff Gary Philp said, “One of my goals has been to have a more consistent presence in the Eel River Valley. While we will continue to support this area from our Eureka headquarters, having a resident deputy will strengthen our law enforcement capabilities. A resident position provides the citizens living in this area with a local deputy who can help them deal with their special issues and law enforcement problems. Deputy Garey isn’t there just to provide a patrol presence; he’s there to act as a liaison and partner between the Sheriff’s Office and the communities we serve in the Eel River Valley.”
Deputy Garey brings thirty-five years of law enforcement experience to his new assignment. He and his wife Alana have been married for eighteen years and they have three children. When he is not at work, Deputy Garey enjoys fishing, hunting and roping. He and his wife are active in their church and they are members of the Loleta Chamber of Commerce.
