Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man and a woman last night after finding almost seventy grams of suspected methamphetamine in their car. At about 10:00 p.m. Deputy Jesse Taylor stopped a car in the Eureka area for a traffic violation. After recognizing the passenger as being on probation with a search and seizure clause, Deputy Taylor searched the vehicle. He found 68.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging material, and other drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle, Jennifer Kowtko, 20 of Eureka, and her passenger, Daniel Liegl Jr., 27 of Eureka, were both arrested. They were both transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and transporting a controlled substance, all felonies. Each has a bail of $25,000 and they are expected to be arraigned by Thursday.
