At about 11:15 last night, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 400 block of River Road in Alderpoint after in was reported that shots had been fired into a residence there. Deputies arrived at the location where the residents reported that someone had fired a single round into their trailer, striking the kitchen sink, and then hitting the opposite wall next to their children. Further investigation led Deputies to a neighbor as the probable shooter. After the victims had safety left the area, Sheriff’s Deputies and officers from the California Highway Patrol set up a secure perimeter around the suspect’s house. The suspect, Adam Scott Hennings, 28, was ordered to come out of his house. Hennings exited his house wearing military issue body armor and carrying four loaded ammunition magazines. Hennings was cooperative and taken into custody without incident.
Hennings told deputies there was a gun in his house. When deputies entered the residence to retrieve the weapon they found six pounds of processed marijuana and 23 pounds of drying marijuana plants. Additionally they found a 12-gauge shotgun and a .45 caliber handgun.
Hennings was arrested and transported the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Cultivation of Marijuana. His bail has been set at $100,000 and he is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
