Two men were arrested early this morning after Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies found cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana in the men’s car. At about 3:00 a.m. deputies saw the two men sitting in a parked car at Mesa and Loma Avenues in Eureka. Deputies made contact with the men determined that the driver, Carl Stivason, 20 of Eureka, had a warrant for his arrest out of Sacramento. Stivason was taken into custody and during the subsequent search of his vehicle deputies found more than six grams of suspected cocaine, a gram of suspected methamphetamine, 33 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging materials.
The passenger in the vehicle, Brian Shearer, 25 and transient, was also arrested. Both Shearer and Stivason were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked on charges that included: possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, and transportation of marijuana. Both men’s bail was set at $25,000 for this case and they are expected to be arraigned by Friday.
