A Sheriff’s Posse member who has dedicated fifty years of service to the Posse was honored recently at their annual dinner. Al Nickols was presented with a belt buckle in recognition of his anniversary with the Posse’s Mounted Unit. Al (whose father Albert Nickols, served as Humboldt County Sheriff from 1955-1962) joined the Sheriff’s Posse in 1956 after graduating from high school. During his time with the Posse, Al has served as Lieutenant, Captain, Treasurer, Parade Marshall, and on the Board of Directors. He also diligently worked for years on the annual Mother’s Day fund-raising rodeo.
Al said he intends to keep going with the Posse “as long as his horse does.”
