A man who was serving a sentence in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility walked away from a work crew this morning. Kevin Lewis Nyce, 36 of Ferndale, had been working with an inmate work crew along Highway 101 in Arcata. At about 10:30 the crew was in the center median south of Sunset Avenue. The supervising Correctional Officer told the crew to prepare to move to another location. Nyce suddenly ran across southbound traffic, jumped a fence and continued running west.
Nyce is a white male adult with black hair and brown eyes. He is 6’2” tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He has a tattoo of a Tasmanian devil on his right shoulder. He was last seen wearing blue denim pants, a blue chambray shirt with a white tee shirt underneath, and black work boots.
Nyce had been serving a one-year sentence for domestic violence; he had been scheduled for release on April 29, 2007.
Anyone with information about Kevin Nyce should call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707)445-7251.
