Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies recovered numerous stolen items after a traffic stop in Samoa last night. At about 8:20 p.m. Deputy Jesse Taylor was on patrol a stopped a vehicle on Highway 255 near Vance Ave. for a traffic violation. A check for warrants revealed both occupants of the vehicle had warrants for their arrest. Both men were taken into custody and the vehicle, a van, was searched by deputies. Inside the van deputies found numerous items that were determined to have been stolen. Some of the items include:
LL Bean backpack with miscellaneous books
CD case with “Christian Olsen” written on the front
Hewlett-Packard Palm Pilot
Hitachi Nail Gun
Flower-print nylon bag with miscellaneous clothing/keys
Black and purple nylon bag with miscellaneous make-up
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the owners of the listed property. The items may have been stolen from Humboldt or Del Norte Counties. Additional items found in the van had been previously reported stolen and were traced to the owners.
The occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. The driver, Daniel Eugene Raper, 31 of Crescent City, was booked for possession of stolen property, driving on a suspended license, provided false identification to a peace officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also booked on a warrant for domestic violence and a probation violation. Raper has an additional warrant out of Del Norte County for a probation violation.
The passenger, Christopher Carl Christian, 35 of Eureka, was booked for possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also booked on an outstanding warrant out of Del Norte County for petty theft.
