On Saturday, October 21, 2006 at about 12:20 hours, a worker for the Webb Logging Company was fatally injured in a logging accident. The accident occurred on privately owned land that is located approximately seven miles out on Wildcat road, Ferndale.
The accident happened as a result of a log that was being ling lined out, striking a small standing tree. The top portion of that small tree broke off and struck the victim. Help was summoned and the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department and EMS workers responded to the accident site. However, the victim did not survive the injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Humboldt County Coroner’s Officer was also summoned and responded; notification of the industrial accident was made to CAL-OSHA officials in Redding.
The victim was a 33-year-old male whose residence was unknown. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.
