On 01-23-2007 at 7:45 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Humboldt County Fire District personnel that they had located an indoor marijuana growing operation in a garage at a residence located in the 6600 block of Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka. Humboldt County Fire District personnel responded to the residence, because an off-duty Eureka Police Officer had seen an electrical circuit breaker box on fire, which was attached to the outside of the garage when he was driving by the residence.
When fire personnel entered the garage to contain the fire they discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation. The owner of the residence was not home when fire personnel arrived on scene. The Sheriff’s Office then secured the garage and residence for a search warrant. At 10:30 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office obtained a signed search warrant for the garage and residence from a Superior Court Judge.
The Sheriff’s Office seized 150 growing marijuana plants from the garage that ranged in size from 8 inches to 10 inches in height. The Sheriff’s Office also seized six, 1000 watt grow lights from the garage that were providing artificial lighting to assist in the growth of the marijuana plants.
The Sheriff’s Office seized $1,500 in cash from inside of the residence for possible asset seizure.
This case is still under investigation by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
