The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has donated thirty-two ballistic vests to military troops serving in Iraq. In response to a request from the Army, the vests have been shipped to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in Balad, Iraq. Although the troops deployed there are provided with plate armor, the ballistic vests are lighter weight and will provide protection for troops while in camp.
“We’re glad that we could donate these vests to be put to such good use,” said Sheriff Gary Philp. “Any added safety and comfort that these vests can provide to the soldiers who will use them is so important.”
