On 02-13-2007 the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI served two Federal search warrants in the Ettersburg area of southern Humboldt County. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement from Redding assisted in the service of these search warrants.

Officers set up surveillance at the first search warrant location on 02-13-2007 at 0030 hours. This property is located off the 6700 block of Wilder Ridge Road. This property is also known as the old Landergen Airstrip. When officers entered the property they located and arrest two suspects. The first suspect was arrested inside of an indoor marijuana grow building where he was harvesting marijuana plants. This suspect was identified as Webster Squier age 31 from Redway. A second suspect was located on the property and arrested who was identified as Lone Alexander Smith age 29 from Garberville.

Officers detained both suspects at the property until daylight. Other officers that were staged in the area then served a second search warrant at a third suspect’s residence, which is located in the 800 block area of Ettersburg Road. The third suspect was not at home when officers served the search warrant. At this time DEA does not want to release the third suspect’s name.

At the old Landergen Airstrip officers located a large commercial indoor marijuana growing operation inside of four structures on the property. Officers seized 9,993 marijuana plants that ranged in size from 6 inches to 3 feet. The indoor marijuana growing operation was being supplied electrical power by a 220 k/w diesel generator that was buried fifteen feet underground. Officers contacted Humboldt County Environmental Health, who responded to the scene to access the situation. Officers contacted a heavy equipment company, who responded to the scene to remove the 220 k/w diesel generator.

Webster Squier and Lone Smith were both arrested on Federal charges for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana. Both subjects were transported to Federal custody in San Francisco where they are being held without bail.

2002,Toyota Tundra 4x4 pickup truck
Quad Runner
Two motor cross motorcycles
