FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, with the Humboldt County Office of Education are pleased to announce that their Sheriff’s Explorers will receive service awards and new members will be sworn in by Sheriff Gary Philp next week. The news media is invited to join us at the ceremony at the Humboldt County Office of Education on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 3:00 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Explorers are young men and women, ages 14 through 20, who are interested in possibly pursuing law enforcement careers. Exploring’s purpose is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible caring adults, particularly in the law enforcement community. The Explorers are all volunteers who have the opportunity to work side by side with law enforcement and participate in community events.
“This program is proving to be a valuable resource for future law enforcement personnel,” said Sheriff Philp. “We are excited about providing these young people with an opportunity to explore the field of law enforcement.”
