Humboldt County Sheriff Gary Philp is pleased to announce the promotion of Ed Wilkinson to Correctional Captain, effective July 15, 2007. As the Correctional Captain, Ed will assume command of the Custody Services Bureau. Captain Wilkinson has been with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office since 1988 when he was hired as a Correctional Officer. In 1995 he was assigned to the newly formed Jail Transition Team and helped develop policies and procedures for the new Correctional Facility. In 1998 he was promoted to Correctional Lieutenant.
“Ed has a strong background in Corrections and has been part of the team that developed our present direct supervision philosophy,” said Sheriff Gary Philp. “I’m confident Ed will bring a lot of positive energy to the job.”
Captain Wilkinson has lived in Humboldt County his entire life. He and his wife Chris have been married for almost twenty years and they have three children. Captain Wilkinson has been involved in coaching youth sports in Eureka for the last twelve years including Coach Pitch Baseball, Hoopsters Basketball, Little League Baseball, Youth Football, and Babe Ruth Baseball.
