The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding who was responsible for causing an estimated $20,000 worth of damage to road signs in Southern Humboldt County. At about 10:30 this morning a Cal-Trans Supervisor flagged down a Sheriff’s Deputy on Avenue of the Giants to report that several road signs had been destroyed. Further investigation revealed that someone had driven into and/or over 17 road signs between Weott and Miranda (on Ave. of the Giants). The destruction occurred late Friday night or early Saturday morning. A possible witness saw a dark blue, full-size pick-up truck, possibly a Dodge, in the area. The involved vehicle would have significant front-end damage.
Anyone with information about the vandalism should contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251.
