Early Saturday morning the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office received a report of a shooting that had occurred on the 2000 block of Hubbard Lane in Eureka. Sheriff’s Deputies and a Sheriff’s Detective responded and discovered that two men had been shot while driving in a vehicle. Investigators learned that the two men were driving in a sedan on Hubbard Lane when another car approached. An occupant in the second car, a red or maroon sport utility vehicle, fired a single round from a shotgun into the sedan. Both men in the sedan were struck but were able to drive to the hospital themselves. One victim was treated and released from a local hospital; the second victim was treated at a local hospital and then flown to a Redding hospital for further treatment.
There is evidence that this was not a random act. The case is still under investigation and detectives are actively developing suspect information. Anyone with information about this case should call Detective Troy Garey at (707) 268-3643.
