Three women were injured Sunday morning on Samoa Beach after being attacked by three dogs. Just before 11:00 a.m. a Eureka woman was walking her terrier mix dog on a leash on the beach. Another woman was walking three dogs (two pit bulls and one pit/chow mix) but was unable to control them. The three dogs broke free and attacked the first woman and her terrier. As she screamed, two additional women heard her cries for help and ran to assist her. Eventually all dogs were separated. The first woman sustained bites to her calf and hands.
The last two women agreed to help return the three aggressive dogs to the owner’s car. As they began walking, the three dogs attacked the two women who were helping. The women were eventually able to fight off the dogs but both women sustained serious dog bites to their arms and legs. All three victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The three attacking dogs were taken to the Humboldt Sheriff’s County Animal Shelter.
