Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Fortuna man last night after finding more than ten pound of marijuana in the truck he was driving. Just before 7:30 Sunday evening, deputies conducted a vehicle investigation on a truck that did not have a rear license plate. Upon contacting the driver, Whitney Hughes, 24, deputies discovered he had a warrant for his arrest. Subsequent to his arrest, deputies found more than ten pounds marijuana in Hughes’ vehicle.
Hughes was transported the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana, and possession of more than 28.5 grams of marijuana. Additionally, he was booked for his warrant for petty theft. His bail has been set at $25,000 and he is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
