The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a deceased person at a residence late yesterday morning. At about 11:00 a.m. responding deputies arrived at a home on the 100 block of Willow Lane in Arcata and found a deceased male on the front lawn. The decedent has been identified as Christopher Lawrence Friedman, 29, and it was his residence where he was found. It is unknown how long Mr. Friedman had been deceased when a delivery person discovered him yesterday. Mr. Friedman was last seen early Sunday morning. There were no obvious signs of lethal trauma to Mr. Friedman. A search warrant was obtained for the residence late yesterday afternoon – standard protocol for a death investigation. Detectives discovered a marijuana growing operation inside the garage of the residence. However, there did not appear to be anything suspicious within the residence nor was there any evidence of a robbery. There is, however, evidence that Mr. Friedman was involved recently in a motorcycle accident and investigators are working to determine the extent of those injuries.
There were early reports that detectives were seeking the driver of a black Acura. That person has been located and detectives have spoken with him.
A cause of death has yet to be determined and an autopsy is scheduled for this evening. The case still under investigation has not been ruled a homicide.
