Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a convicted sex offender early this morning on the McKinleyville High School Campus. The search for Bobby Lee Ganfield, 29, began last night when his parole officer contacted the Sheriff’s Office after noticing unusual movement by Ganfield via his ankle bracelet with GPS monitoring. The ankle bracelet indicated that Ganfield had been in the Hiller Park area for several hours, a concern to Ganfield’s parole agent. Deputies located Ganfield last night at the park but when he saw them approach he road away on his bicycle. Deputies, who were on foot, were unable to apprehend him. Shortly after he rode away, Ganfield’s tracking bracelet registered that it had been removed.
At about 6:00 this morning Ganfield’s anklet bracelet began to register again and indicated he was at McKinleyville High School’s football field. Deputies found Ganfield and discovered he was exposing himself. He was arrested without incident. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for obstructing/resisting a peace officer, being a registered sex offender on school grounds, and a parole hold. He is expected to be arraigned by Monday. He is not eligible to post bail due to his parole status.
