Shortly before 1:00 this afternoon, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a drive-by shooting south on Highway 101 south of Benbow. Officers from the California Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Deputies responded and learned that a white sedan occupied by three Hispanic males had been traveling southbound on Hwy 101. A preliminary investigation indicates that a second vehicle occupied by four white males pulled up next to the sedan and opened fire. One of the men in the white sedan was shot once; the suspect vehicle continued traveling southbound. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
The suspect vehicle is a white or beige sport utility vehicle, possible a Chevy Tahoe.
