Humboldt County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested two additional suspects in connection with the case of the correctional officer charged with bringing narcotics into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility (HCCF).
Taryn Nicole Mabe, 20 of Willow Creek, was arrested last night at about 5:00 p.m. after she turned herself in to the Sheriff’s Office. She was booked for conspiracy, conspiracy to bring a narcotic controlled substance into a correctional facility, conspiracy to bring contraband into a correctional facility, conspiracy to possess a narcotic controlled substance, and conspiracy to possess marijuana. She posted bail in the amount of $20,000 and was released from custody. She is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment July 22, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.
Ruben Anthony Peredia, an inmate at the HCCF, was arrested and booked for the same charges this afternoon. Peredia has been in custody at HCCF since March 1, 2009 when he was arrested and booked for the murder of Ezra Sanders. He is expected to be arraigned on this case on Monday.
The investigation revealed that Peredia arranged for his girlfriend, Mabe, to drop off narcotics, tobacco, and marijuana at a location outside the Correctional Facility. Correctional Officer Jentry-Rakestraw then picked up the contraband and attempted to bring it into the facility for Peredia.
Jentry-Rakestraw, who was arrested last Friday, posted bail in the amount of $50,000 last evening and was released from custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 15, 2009 at 3:00.
No additional arrests are anticipated.
