Shortly after midnight this morning Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Tip Top Club (Loma Avenue, Eureka) after receiving a report of shots fired. Deputies learned that a group of men were causing a disturbance over a door-charge. As the men started to leave, one of them produced a handgun from his waistband and fired several shots into the air. The men then drove away. Witnesses provided a description of their vehicle and Sheriff’s Deputies and Eureka Police Officers stopped the vehicle on Broadway in Eureka. Deputies had all five of the vehicle’s occupants step out of the car one at a time. Inside the car deputies found a handgun. The handgun matched the same caliber of casings found at the Tip Top Club.
Witnesses were able to identify the shooter as Khamchan Bounlord, 25 of Eureka. He was arrested for negligently discharging a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and a probation violation. His bail was set at $25,000.
Additionally, the driver of the car, Shaminder Dass, 21 of Eureka, was arrested and booked for carrying a concealed weapon. He posted bail in the amount of $25,000 and was released from custody.
No injuries were reported.
