Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Fields Landing woman Wednesday for child abuse after responding to her residence for a reported physical fight in progress. Upon arriving at the home of Margorie Burgess, 42, deputies learned that Burgess had become involved in an argument with her juvenile son. The argument escalated and Burgess struck her son in the face with an iron. Additionally, she struck the juvenile in the head with a shot glass and bit him.
Burgess was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where she was book on one count of inflicting unjustifiable pain on a child, a felony. Her bail was set at $50,000 and she is expected to be arraigned today.
