Yesterday morning Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two men after finding them in a stolen vehicle and in possession of four pounds of processed marijuana. At about 2:00 a.m. yesterday a deputy sheriff was on patrol when a spotted a vehicle that matched the description of one that had been reported stolen. He confirmed through dispatch that the vehicle was stolen and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Commercial and 5th Streets in Eureka. Additional deputies and officers from the Eureka Police Department arrive to assist. The driver, Dwayne Patrick Lamont, 22 of San Diego, was arrested and the passenger, William Ronald Douglas, 24 of Durham, North Carolina was detained. Deputies searched the vehicle and found the marijuana, packaging materials, a scale, and a vacuum sealer; some of the marijuana had been placed in vacuum-sealed packages.
Lamont and Douglas (who was now under arrest) were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Lamont was booked for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana for sale. He posted bail in the amount of $25,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on September 25, 2009.
