Humboldt County Sheriff’s Investigators booked Rodney Allen Donahue Jr., 23 of Hoopa, yesterday evening for the murder of Nicholas Montoya. Donahue has been in custody since his arrest last Friday when Sheriff’s Deputies found him driving the victim’s truck. Donahue was originally booked for vehicle theft, impersonating another, false identification to a peace officer, and driving on a suspended license.
Donahue’s bail was increased by $1 million, bringing his total bail to $1,025,000. He is expected to be arraigned on the murder charge by Tuesday.
In the week since Donahue’s arrest, detectives continued their homicide investigation. The investigators conducted more than 25 interviews and continued to gather and evaluate evidence.
