Late Saturday night a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol in Redway when he made a traffic stop for a vehicle registration violation. At about 11:00 p.m. the deputy stopped a vehicle driven by Heather Marie Jaynes (AKA Taylor), 28 of Piercy, who also had a passenger, David Michael Huckaby, 52 and transient. Further investigation revealed that Jaynes was driving on a suspend driver’s license. The deputy searched the vehicle subsequent to Jaynes’ arrest and found a significant amount of narcotic controlled substances. In total, throughout the vehicle and on Jaynes’ and Huckaby’s persons, the deputy found 50.8 grams of heroin, 92 methadone pills, assorted prescription pills, small amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, a glass pipe, and a hypodermic syringe.
Both Jaynes and Huckaby were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked on charges that included possession of a narcotic controlled substance, possession of a narcotic controlled substance for sale, and the transportation of a narcotic controlled substance for sale. Both posted bail in the amount of $25,000 and were released from custody. They are both scheduled to appear in court on November 20, 2009.
