Yesterday evening a second person was arrested and booked for the murder of Robert Van Alstine. Shortly after noon yesterday, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Andrea Janette Marr, 24 of Eureka. Sheriff’s Detectives contacted members of Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Program (POP) who assisted detectives in searching for Marr at two Eureka residences. Marr was not located at either residence. Sheriff’s Detectives and Eureka P.D.’s POP team members contacted several of Marr’s known associates and spread the word that there was a warrant for her arrest.
At about 5:00 p.m. Marr surrendered herself to officers at the Eureka Police Department who subsequently arrested her. She was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where she was booked on one count of murder. Her bail has been set at $1 million and she is expected to be arraigned by Monday.
Marr is the second person arrested in connection with Van Alstine’s November, 2009 murder. Wednesday morning Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Johnny Lindel Lewis. He is expected to be arraigned this afternoon.
