On June 1, 2010 at 3:28 AM, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a possible deceased adult male on Santa Clara Street, Eureka. Deputies responded and located a non-responsive male, who was pronounced deceased by medical staff on scene.
The death is being investigated as a possible homicide. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are currently at the location to determine the cause of the death, gathering of evidence and locating possible witnesses. There are limited details being released at this time, as information is still being gathered. Updated news releases will be prepared as information becomes available.
June 1, 2010 @ 1:34 PM: Investigators have determined the cause of death to be Homicide and the single male victim has been removed from the Santa Clara Street address by the Humboldt County Coroner. In an effort to preserve the integrity of the current investigation, the cause of death is not being released at this time or his identity. At the time of this update, investigators remain on scene continuing this investigation. It is anticipated that no further information will be released on this date. As the investigation progresses additional releases will be furnished.
June 2, 2010 @ 7:54 AM: The investigation of Monday’s Santa Clara Street Homicide continues this morning. To insure that all family members have been properly notified, the name of the victim is not being released by this office and inquires to the identity of the victim should be made through the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office. The cause or method of death is still not being released at this time. There have been two persons of interest identified in this investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking to locate for questioning: Katrina Lanai Inong (Native American, 5-03, 165, black and brown, 03-11-1989); Ryan Anthony Salas aka ‘Stomper’ (Native American, 5-09, 185, black and brown, 09-05-1985). In addition to these two persons of interest the Sheriff’s Office is seeking for questioning: Sonia Iexion Hunscker (Native American, 5-03, 135, black and brown); and Sunny Nix (Native American, male, no further).
The Sheriff’s Office is also attempting to locate two vehicles that may be involved in this investigation: Blue or gray 1990 Toyota 4Runner CA 2PNH763; and a blue Ford Ranger with a camper shell (no further).
